Climbing La Sagra (2383 m)

Climbing La Sagra (2383 m)

We've done it!
La Sagra (2383 m) is the highest peak on the Altiplano de Granada. A bold mountain that strikes out from its landscape with a rocky, karst profile and with its rugged slopes. It's a natural refuge for a diverse fauna with holm oak and giant secuoya pine trees. La Sagra has been a source of mythical legends and wonders for the local people since pre-historic times.
Carlos, I and Mago (the 5 months old adopted dog) took on the 940 m uphill adventure with a fierce determination to reach the top! We didn't know what to expect as this was our first climb on this mountain and our first full-day climbing in a long time..
We only took water, some sausage and Magosero Salted Caramel Almond Butter  with us ~which proved to be the perfect energy boost for all three of us just right before the peak-attack!!
The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking and, for those who can make it up there, there is a bottle of Cream Liquor prepared in the metal box by thoughtful fellow mountaineers..!
The downhill trip was equally challenging and, as we learnt, you ought to avoid the deer hunting area or you risk being confronted with the chief hunter with his big rifle!
All together, I can highly recommend this great adventure on La Sagra to anyone who would love to admire the scenery of the Altiplano de Granada from its very top!
